Six Ways We Safeguard Your Account Data

From the moment you enter a UPI handle to the moment a withdrawal lands in your Paytm wallet, every piece of data passes through encrypted channels.

Encryption in Transit and at Rest

All data you submit — including PhonePe identifiers and UPI handles — is encrypted using TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. No payment credential is stored in plain text at any point in our systems.

Cookie Transparency

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and analytics cookies to understand how our lobby pages are used. You can review and withdraw cookie consent at any time from the Cookie Preferences panel in your account settings.

Account Security Practices

We require a strong password at account creation and send email alerts whenever a new device logs in. You can also activate two-step verification from your security settings for an additional layer of protection.

Data Retention Policy

We keep your account data for as long as your account remains active. Once you request account closure, we delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except where Indian law requires us to retain specific transaction records longer.

Your Right to Access and Correct

You have the right to request a full export of the data we hold about you, and to ask us to correct any inaccuracy. Submit this via the in-account form or by emailing our Privacy Team — no lengthy justification required.

No Third-Party Data Sales

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to any third-party advertiser or data broker. Payment processors such as UPI networks and Paytm receive only the data required to complete your specific transaction.

We collect your name, email address, mobile number, date of birth and the payment identifiers you use — such as your UPI handle, Paytm mobile number or PhonePe-linked account details. We also collect device and browser data for security purposes.

Your UPI handle and Paytm mobile number are stored in encrypted form using AES-256 encryption. We never store full card numbers or payment credentials in plain text, and access within our team is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Yes. Submit a data export request through Account Settings under the Privacy tab, or email our Privacy Team. We will compile and send you a complete export of your personal data within five working days of receiving your request.

We delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days of account closure. Transaction records may be kept for a longer period where Indian law or financial regulations require it, but those records are segregated and access-controlled.

We share your data only with payment processors — UPI networks, Paytm, PhonePe — and with service providers who help us operate the platform, under strict data-processing agreements. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Log in and go to Account Settings to update most fields yourself. For data you cannot edit directly — such as your registered name — contact our Privacy Team by email or live chat and we will make the correction within three working days.

You can raise a formal concern with our Privacy Team at any time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to escalate the matter to the relevant data protection authority in India as permitted under applicable local law.
